Goals
I've started this project as a 3-month summer project, between first and second year of academy.
I wanted to test myself as much as possible: Blueprints, LDDs, GDDs, Puzzle design and Narrative design.
First of all i started thinking of a small incipit for the narrative, so i could start thinking on which mechanics use inside levels. Then i did GDDs to keep in mind what i wanted to do, with parameters and a detailed description on what i was going to develop.
Once mechanics were written, i started designing layouts and puzzles for all different level in the game.
In this project I could:
-
Greatly increase my technical skills as i worked a lot with cinematics and blueprints to create an immersive gameplay.
-
Work on Menus
-
Settings with resolutions, sounds and mouse sensitivity are present.
-
Save system
-
New game and Continue
-
-
Subtitles
I had to face lot of problems:
-
The time was really short for the big project i wanted to be so i had to cut levels part and one mechanic.
-
It was my first time i was going so deep with blueprints, so i had to spend a lot of time debugging and fixing problems (also distraction problems, small but evil)
-
I couldn't complete the project, some bugs are still present and i couldn't put all the sounds that i wanted.
